Book Club - Leadership & Self Deception

Both Mom and I have read ahead and really enjoyed this book.  It is full of good solid Gospel Princples for the Secular world.  I see many situations where I have not been as sensative to others as I should have been.  I am currently reading "A Patriots History of the United States".  It is a more objective look at what has happened Since Columbus discovered the Americas in 1492.  Much of what I learned about the History of our Country was presented in a particular perspective.  It is good to get a more objective viewpoint.  I have just finished

Twoness

Just thought I'd share a bit of our nearly-two boy's antics of late.  He's certainly kept us on our toes and behind the camera too.  It all seems to have begun when the lad discovered the tail pipes on John's car.  He's put various things into them, and though most we've been able to fish out before the car was running, not all.  Then shoes began to disappear.  Oddly, one of each of Charity's.  We are currently blaming poor little, innocent Hyrum, because it's easy and he doesn't care.  We finally bought her new shoes today.

Quoting Hyrum's Thoughts

"Hey, here's Daddy's car with those two tubes sticking out the back!"  "Yesterday, I put big rocks in those holes and Mommy had to dig them out.  I'd better not do that again today."  "Hmm, what else could go in there?  Maybe these nifty sticks that the big kids use for drawing on the sidewalks.  Oh look, they fit.  One in each hole.  Now if I just push them back as far as possible.  There, perfect"

Out loud, to Mommy  "Mommy-- Daddy Tar(car)"

Hey, were still alive :)

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to tell everyone hi and that we are still here. I know we don't get on here much, but we are going to try and do better. I am going to use this for one of my projects in my class, so look back for some fun stories. Also some news, Monica got called as the relief society choirester, I have yet to get a calling in our new ward. It seems to be a really good ward, they are all working hard, together to make it fun. Well I hope you all have a fun day, we love you all. Thank for everything. Love Jared and Monica

Our miracle of the day for Thursday

Thursday Hayden woke from his nap early.  I was a little bummed, but brought him down for a snack.  I could hear my Mom talking to my Dad in thier room in an abnormal voice. I walked in to see what was wrong and could immediately see some of the problem.  Dad had a low blood sugar and was having difficulty breathing.  We decided to take him to the hospital, but then had the quandry of getting him to the car without a wheel chair.

The last two weeks in review - not as eventful as Alicia's!

We got home and immediately Hayden and I got sick again.  We are both shaking off the last of it this weekend. It has been one nasty booger of a cold - literally!  Craig, bless his lucky hide, has not had a hint of a sniffle. I am trying not to be jealous.  Actually, we pray our thanks daily.  Mom has been sick for months and finally took an LOA to get better.  Her boss was pleased.  Turned out to be a good thing.

One Week!

We've been home one week, though it seems much longer.  It's hard to believe we were just getting home and were ultra jetlagged just last Sunday.  In that week John has begun a new semester, Alicia taught two Relief Society lessons, Shaylee lost two teeth in two days, Derek(and Shaylee)  discovered how to turn double dutch ropes, Charity had her friend Madison come over,  and Hyrum peed in the potty three times, (all within 30 minutes of each other.  None since).

Little Britches

Just wanted to let you know that we completed Little Britches, the story of Ralph Moody as a young boy in Colorado.  His stories reminded me a lot about Grandpa Brigham Hokanson, he was about the same age and the stories of his growing up are similar to Ralph.  I have pictures of Grandpa with knee high pants that I am sure he did not really like.  Grandpa Hokanson was born in Fort Bridger Wyoming on a homestead that was also very barren.  They had no water in the house and depended on a nearby spring for drinking water.  Ralph's father was a quiet and very wise man.

Reality Again

Well, all the excitement and travels are over, and we're all back home again.  I hope everyone is settling back into routines.  We're pretty jetlagged here, but adjusting.  The water smells bad to us again, but thankfully, there were no giant bugs to greet us.

We had such a nice time with everyone and miss you already.  I hope we can see everyone again in the summer.

Good luck getting back into the swing of life again.  We love you all

Alicia
