The Great Outdoors (plus toilets)

Girls Camp was awesome this year.  On top of the almost eight months time we put into planning it and balancing the levels of fun and spirituality, we had an amazing brand new camp site with something so revolutionary that it could rival the lunar landing (well almost)... Yes, beautiful, flushing toilets and hot showers to go around.  This may not seem like a very big deal, but for a girls camp it can make a world of difference.

Of course, the site itself was not the only thing to speak of.  The theme this year was Finding Our Lighthouse and we all learned about coming closer to our Savior.  Some of the fun activities that I got to participate in included scenic hiking, watercolor painting, log hauling (a service project to clean up our old camp), flag retiring, and to top it off, fabulous cardboard-box racing (or should I say sinking).  All around it was a very fun week.

Thursday night we had Ben McClure come and speak to us and then we dispersed into wards for Testimony meetings, which are always my favorite part.  Afterwards the Bishop stood up to tell us all the story of the Three Bears, that is the three bears that were lurking around the area.  We were all herded down to the lodge to spend the night for our safety.  There were plenty of imitation bears hiding behind trees along the way, followed by rounds of screams.  It turned out to be a fun "sleepover" once we actually got to sleep.  Thankfully, nobody was hurt and we all returned home with our spirits a little fuller.
