Just to make you wish you were there, this is the smallest and highest of the Bear Valley Lakes. This is about 9,000 feet in elevation and 7 miles from the base camp. I am on the blue roan in the center. We had fished at the smaller of the the two Bear Valley lakes and everyone caught fish. We soon got out of there as the lightening and thunder were a little too close. On the way out the sky opened up and we got dumped on. We were a bunch of drowned rats when we got back to camp.
The picture below is a Bull Trout from the creek back at the base camp. It is a beautiful fish, one of Idaho's few native fish and are protected by the Endangered Species Act. I let him go.
Ihad a great time and I learned a great deal horses, my respect has grown for what they can accomplish and how durable they are. I would like to do this again some day.
