Summer Flowers

The flowers in Mom's mound are in full bloom, we really got some beautiful Iris this year.  I had just finished watering so it is really green.  Luke is admiring the sceen from the shade of the willow tree.  Mom and Ashley have been in Idaho Falls at the Wal-Mart parking lot doing a carwash to raise funds for FCCLA nationals.  It was a long day for them as it was over 90 degrees on Saturday when this picture was taken.  Girls Camp is this week, I will be going up on Wednesday evening for the campfire progrram and to stay on Thursday.   Ashley is one of the

The Lipizzaner Stallions

Last week we were having pancakes when the "Battle of the Sexes" contest came on the KLCE radio station; Mom called because they announced they were giving away tickets to the Lipizzaner Stallion performance at Holt Arena to the winner.  When the phone started to ring she gave it to Craig because she did't want to play.  They already had a male contestant so he handed the phone to Andrea.  They start with 1 point questions and work their way to the final 5 point question.  Andrea got them all correct and even answered the ones right that the male contestant mis

Planting the Garden

Many hands make planting the garden go quickly.  We finished getting everything in by 1:00 PM today with Craig's, Andrea's, Kimber's, Liberty's and Hayden's help.  Luke even pitched in to cover up some of the seeds.  We have Peas, Corn, Potatoes, Carrots, Beets, Acorn Squash, Zucinni Squash and Yellow Crook Neck Squash.  We also have Cherry Tomatoes and Quick Pick Tomatoes.  It is good to have it done.  I know that we will need the produce this summer and fall.  It is great to have Andrea and Craig and thier families here this week.  Mo

Hayden and Luke

Hayden and Luke had a great time with each other on at our house on May 5th.  I think Luke was more wary of Hayden than the other way around.  Craig, Jennie and Hayden are spending a few days here with us before heading for Tracy, California next week.  As you can see I can post a picture now, with Craigs help!!  Dad

Remembering our Love Ones

On this Memorial Day weekend we are reminded of those of our loved ones who have completed their stay on this Earth and returned to Heavenly Father.  Lanae, Ashley and Dad met Aunt Kathleen and Uncle David at the North Bingham County Park, where they were camping with their new trailer; then went on to the cemetary in Shelley to decroate Grandma and Grandpa Hillman's, as well as Heather's and Carrie's graves.  While we were there Marjean came with her son Dean.  We had a good visit.  Marjean is adjusting to her new surroundings at the Gables, an assisted living center in

Summer Has Finally Arrived in Idaho

This past weekend has been beatiful, we finally got into the 80's and it felt really hot outside in the yard.  I had some volunteer cottonwood trees growing in the ditch out back and Saturday Jared and I transplanted them out back behind the lilac bushes.  So far I think 4 of the 5 will survive.  Our Chinese Rose Tree out front is in full bloom and covered with beatiful pink blossoms.  Mom says it looks like pink candy popcorn popping on the Chinese Rose Tree.  All of our tulips are out now and I had to mow the lawn this past week.  There is water in the canal

Mothers Day news

On Friday Mike Cornia gave me some special variety potatoes that he got at Walters Produce in Newdale, Idaho.  They are small Yellow, Purple, and Gold potatoes that sell for $10.00 in the grocery store for 1-1/2 lbs.  I wouldn't be using them if they hadn't been given to me.  We are making a potato saled with them to go along with the chicken, jello and muffins.  It will be a great Mother's Day meal.  Idaho as usual is cloudy and blustery.  We attended Ashley's play, "The Understudy", last eveing.  it was a lot of fun as the plot thickened and th

Ashley is President

Yesterday Ashely was interviewed and selected to be the the new Firth Chapter FCCLA President.  Last year she served at the District level as Star Events Coordinator but chose to serve only in the Firth Chapter her Senior year, because of her busy schedule.   She is also  the Costume misstress for Drill team next year.  She served there this year and really enjoyed it.  Her advisor wanted her to be captian, but she chose not to.  She is also in the school play this week and next at the High School, it is called "The Understudy".  She plays t

Roundtable tomorrow night - Mechanics Theme

I have been gathering Simple Mechanical Devices to use for Roundtable on Thursday.  Some of them are:  Can opener, Nut Cracker, Air pump, and many other items that can be used to teach  young Boy Scouts about Mechanics.  It will be fun to see if the Scoutmastes know all of the various devices.
