The Boy Who Still Loves Olives

Last week Hayden ate everything in sight, and then asked for more.  This week I can't get him to eat anything on his tray.  He just begs and begs for my food, even though it is the same food he has been offered.  Tonight he cried and begged and I ignored him, figuring if he was really hungry he would eat his own food.  It worked...

A Day of Drama

You know the kind. The day hits 10AM and you think "When does it end?" By noon you wonder if you should just hide in your room. At 3PM you wonder if you are dreaming because horror like this only happens in dreams and in the movies. By bedtime you have to take a sleeping aide to forget all of the other things you have forgotten to fix/address/pay/clean. Yup. We had one of those days this week.

Favorite Recipes

Sending out a call for your family's favorite recipes, including fun things to make with children.  We have some very fun things in the works for Christmas... Yea!  We are so excited that we will all be together for a short time.  Please send recipes via email to Jennie at her gmail account.  Thanks.

Hayden's Artistry

I just posted a blog about Hayden's first attempt at Photography.  He's not half bad, if you ask this very biased Momma.  Also check out the latest posts on both Craig and my blogs, as well as the Prop 8 tab on our website regarding the Proposition 8 campaign.  I am only begining to understand the very real implications of this measure.

Updates

See our family website for some fun updates, including pics of Hayden and some pictures from Craig's birthday.  I am trying to blog there a couple of times a week, so check back often.  Love you.

The Joyful Surprise of Motherhood

I was researching a lesson for my Beehives and came across this talk.  It was a reminder to me of what we are up against in teaching our daughters their place as women of God and women of the world.  I thought it might be of interest to others.  In the talk, this sister mentions the views young women have of marriage and especially Motherhood.  She refutes the myths she faced with a testimony of the gospel.  It's short and takes only a moment to read.

Banners and things

I am trying to improve my photoshop skills.  It's a work in progress... Sorry some of the photos are old.  Post or send me some new ones and I'll up date. :)  The latest on us:

Craig is busy as Ward Clerk, Jennie loves her Beehives, and Hayden has a new list of favorites.  They are:

1. Hats.  All kinds.  He points out anyone who is wearing one and wants a chance to put the hat on.

Recipes

I'm starting to think about getting Christmas gifts together.  Please send me your favorite recipies (and where they came from if they are 'heritage recipies), photos, etc.  Feel free to send scanned pics.  That would be safest.  I will take mailed ones, as well, and return them asap.  Email will be the best way to send me the recipies.  Thanks!!!

Distract Kids Idea

This was in an article I read at parents.com.  Of all the ideas, this one sounded fun.

--"Happily and unhappily" is a wonderful game that my sister-in-law from England taught us. You might say, "Happily, Peter received a card with five dollars in it from Grandma." "Unhappily, the wind blew it down the street," your child says. "Happily, it stopped right in front of his house." "Unhappily, the dog grabbed it and ran off. . ." and so on."---

Thought I'd pass it on.
